Apple Watch Tests AI Features That Can Summarize Conversations

Apple is beta-testing Audio Intelligence features for supported Apple Watch models, including tools that can help users recall short portions of conversations and save high-level notes. The early rollout is aimed at developers rather than general availability.

Live Rewind can show a short text snippet of something recently said, while Siri Recaps is designed to produce brief summaries and key points. Other optional features can recognize important environmental sounds and identify music. Apple says it has built in controls for enabling or disabling the capabilities.

The technology raises questions about privacy because it involves processing speech around the wearer. Apple says the system uses protected processing, does not retain raw conversation audio for recaps, and offers options to review or delete saved information.

Alpine Linux Security Flaw Could Allow Password-Free SSH Logins

Security researchers have disclosed a serious authentication issue affecting certain Alpine Linux systems that combine OpenSSH with the musl C library. Under specific account configurations, an attacker who can reach the SSH service may be able to sign in without knowing a password.

The flaw does not affect every Linux computer. It depends on how authentication is configured, including the absence of PAM and particular password and account settings. Similar configurations on other systems could also be exposed.

Updates have been released by Alpine and OpenSSH. Administrators using those components should check whether their systems meet the affected conditions and apply the relevant fixes promptly, especially when SSH can be reached from the internet.

Apple’s 2026 iPad Mini Gets OLED Screen and A20 Pro Chip

Apple’s updated iPad mini brings a substantial display and processor upgrade to its smallest tablet. The new model replaces the earlier 8.3-inch LCD with an 8.5-inch OLED screen, improving contrast and HDR viewing in a compact design.

The tablet uses Apple’s A20 Pro chip, giving it a significant performance improvement over the previous generation. Apple has also reduced the surrounding bezels and improved the speakers, making the device more capable for entertainment, reading, and everyday multitasking.

The main consideration is price. With the compact tablet sitting relatively close to the larger iPad Air, buyers will need to decide whether portability and the OLED display are worth choosing a smaller screen.

Agility Robotics Makes Nasdaq Debut as Humanoid Robot Market Expands

Agility Robotics has made its public-market debut on Nasdaq, placing a leading US humanoid robot developer under closer investor scrutiny. Its Digit robots are already being used for repetitive work in commercial settings such as warehouses and manufacturing facilities.

The company is developing a business model in which customers either purchase robots or pay recurring fees for hardware use, maintenance, and software. Planned Digit 5 pricing includes a monthly service fee of about $8,500, alongside deployment costs, while outright ownership comes with a higher initial payment.

Agility’s public disclosures also show that commercial humanoid robotics remains an emerging industry with significant development costs and operating losses. The listing offers investors a clearer look at whether robots can eventually deliver reliable returns in workplaces.

Blue Origin Tests Northstar Rocket Engine Designed to Lower Launch Costs

Blue Origin has revealed upgrades under development for its New Glenn rocket, including a new first-stage engine named Northstar. The company says the engine will have fewer components, lower mass, and greater thrust than the BE-4 engine it is intended to replace.

Northstar has entered test firing, but it is not yet in regular launch service. Blue Origin’s long-term manufacturing goal is to build the engine at about one-quarter of the cost of a BE-4, partly through simplified construction and extensive 3D printing.

The company is also developing a hydrogen-powered third stage for missions needing additional performance beyond Earth orbit. These projects are intended to make future launches more economical while opening up new payload destinations.

NASA Reveals X-70 Fractal Experimental Aircraft With Modular Design

NASA has announced a new experimental aircraft called the X-70 Fractal, intended to test advanced flight controls and other aviation technologies. The proposed crewed aircraft will use a modular design so researchers can change equipment and experimental payloads between tests.

NASA has outlined performance goals including cruising near Mach 0.75 and reaching altitudes of up to 45,000 feet. However, the agency has not provided a complete technical design or a firm first-flight date. The announcement was accompanied by a computer-generated image rather than a clear photograph of a completed aircraft.

The X-70 would add to NASA’s X-plane research programs, which use experimental aircraft to investigate technologies before they are considered for wider aviation use.
