Sony is bringing back the look of its original Walkman headphones with a new model called the MDR-3R. The lightweight design retains the recognizable headband and round ear cushions associated with the portable cassette-player era.
The modern version uses a wired USB-C connection, adds an inline remote and microphone, and offers interchangeable orange and blue cushions. Sony has kept the 23 mm drivers close to the original design rather than turning the headset into a modern noise-canceling wireless product.
Priced at $60, the MDR-3R targets listeners who prefer simple wired audio and retro styling. It also reflects a renewed interest in classic portable music accessories.
