New Android Ecosystem Security Report


The top MNC google published a new Android Security Report that includes all the information about its new features, trends and enhancements that were made to the play protect this year. The report generally states the company's efforts to reduce harmful applications in Google Play. As more and more harmful applications pop-up on Play Store that are available for millions of users to download, Google is trying to suspend all these fake and harmful apps.

Google also officially announced that it is going to publish the Android Ecosystem Security Report on a quarterly basis. It also stated that the number of harmful apps keeps reducing each time a newer Android version is installed. This reduction is mainly due to the API hardening, app security, developer training to reduce apps and monthly security updates. Google is also trying to restrict applications from accessing personal information and gaining control over unauthorized permissions.

As, the number of cybercrimes keeps growing day by day, many researches have stated that most of the cybercrimes took place especially via malicious apps that were available on Google Play Store. Google explained in a blog saying that the new versions of Android such as Nougat, Oreo and Android Pie are more secure and can withstand much greater attacks than the usual ones.

The report specifies the PHA (Potentially Harmful Apps) rates by scanning more than 50 Billion apps by using the Google Play Protect and concluded that the rate of PHA is gradually decreased to 0.08 in 2018 from 0.09 in 2017.
